Clare Brett's presentation at this year's ECOO Conference confirmed many of my opinions about blogs and their potential in education. It was very reassuring to meet someone who believes that it is our responsibility not to protect students from the online world but to use its networked texts to develop critical readers, proficient at navigating the digital domain and its many connections and correspondences. I also had an opportunity to talk to some passionate Ontario edubloggers (thanks, Quentin, for organizing the meeting) and it was collectively decided that we should all have an online presence as Ontario educators interested in researching blogs, wikis, and podcasts in education. Quentin created a community on ELGG and I hope that the community will continue grow. Here's the link. There's nothing there yet - we' re just starting.
